Students will actually become real authors! They work through the writing process to make their own hard-covered and illustrated books about things or stories that interest them. Before the students get started, teachers talk with them about some of the favorite books they like to read and discuss the differences between fiction and non-fiction books. Once students have had a chance to reflect on their own reading or writing preferences, they participate in the writing process to generate ideas, write, edit and publish their final stories in their own hard covered book.
