Young students really do make awesome authors. They are also experts on the topic of It’s All About Me, the hard-covered book that they write and illustrate through the Awesome Authors Kit. In this series, children learn book basics such as author and illustrator, fiction and non-fiction. They have opportunities to discuss their own favorite books and the features that make the books good to read. Students participate in the actual writing process—generating ideas, writing, editing and publishing their stories in their own hard covered book.
Throughout the process, children experience multiple aspects of writing including brainstorming, rough draft writing, peer editing, proofreading, revisions and a finalizing their written piece. Then, they participate in “publishing” their book, titled “It’s All About Me.”
